Botnet army attacks cyber journalistWar reporters treat coming under fire as an occupational hazard, but tech journos don’t normally need to don flak jackets and tin helmets. However, Brian Krebs – an American investigative journalist who crusades against cyber crime – has found himself caught in such a DDoS firestorm that he had to close down his site.

The unknown gunslingers unleashed 660 Gbps of traffic, in the form of two botnets comprising 1.5m hacked Internet of Things devices – mostly connected cameras – making it one of the largest attacks ever in terms of volume. Researchers fear this is just the start of a new wave of DDoS attacks via the IoT.
