EU ups the ante on IoT securityThe Internet of Things may be a wonderful idea in theory, but as we all know by now, it does have a number of flaws – lack of security regulation being one of them. It was bound to happen at some point, but ‘IoT’ has now fallen foul of the EU, which likes nothing better than a bit of good old-fashioned red tape.

A recent report from EU security think-tank ENISA has identified that the IoT has no level zero for security and privacy, no legal guidelines for device and service trust and no precautionary requirements.

The report proposes European Baseline Requirements for Security and Privacy and the introduction of an EU Trust Label, recommending the implementation of standards and certifications to ensure a baseline of security processes and services is in place for all IoT devices.
