Guardian Project, a not-for-profit global collective of software developers, is using the Dark Net to keep hackers out of people’s baby monitors, toasters, light bulbs and fridges.
It is utilising privacy software from the Tor Project’s anonymity network to turn the Internet-of-things hub into a hidden service. This will prevent Tor’s intermediary computers from connecting to the destination computer unless the owner implements their passcode. Once again it will be safe to eat breakfast.
