Holidaymakers exposed after ABTA hackThe Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) is the latest organisation to take a cyber hit, exposing the personal details of thousands of UK travelers and hundreds of tour operators and travel agents after an attack on its hosting provider.

While ABTA claims that it has the problem under control, the personal details of up to 650 of their members and 43,000 consumers have been exposed – including a number of files containing private complaints filed against tour operators by disgruntled travellers.

Once again the spotlight is on a high-profile organisation’s failure to develop effective multi-layered security measures. However, it must be said that ABTA’s response has been quick and transparent – notifying all affected parties before going public with the breach.
