Yet again a healthcare operation has failed to meet acceptable standards of cybersecurity. OpenEMR is an internationally-deployed patient and practice management software system, storing the medical records of nearly 100 million patients from across the world.
Due to the timely intervention of Project Security, an information security education platform, the bugs have been identified and neutralised before they could give unauthorised parties access to sensitive and confidential medical data.
OpenEMR has now issued fixes for the vulnerabilities within the one-month timeframe specified by Project Insecurity and has expressed its gratitude to the security firm for its timely intervention.
