In the old days, robbers and looters would break into an electronics store and make off with TVs, camcorders, stereos and whatever else they could carry. In the modern world they just steal its customers’ identities.
CeX, a major retailer of second hand technology and computer games headquartered in London’s Tottenham Court Road, has recently been the victim of a major security breach – affecting some two million of its customers. An unauthorised third party gained access to its systems; stealing names, phone numbers, physical and email addresses.
CeX also owns the We.Buy.com online outlet and has recommended that its clientele change their passwords, especially if they are used across other sites. Everyone affected by the breach has been notified by email.
