A recent cyber attack on the French television network TV5 Monde is thought to have been the work of Russian cyber hackers. The perpetrators also published messages on the TV station’s Facebook page.
French media reports indicate that propaganda-type posts appeared on the television station’s website by individuals claiming to represent Islamic State. The general tenor of the hackers is to warn French troops to stay away from any involvement with Islamic State.
The police investigation is focusing on a group called APT28, which in the past has attacked the computer systems of the White House, Nato members and Russian dissidents.
