The Bangladesh Central Bank is not the only financial institution to have suffered a cyber attack via its use of the Swift system, it has been revealed. Swift is a financial messaging system commonly used across the world to move huge sums of money and the latest attack will send shudders through many an organisation worldwide.
Swift has not identified the second financial organisation but have stated that the attack was carried out through malware. This comes after the company suggested that the Bangladesh hackers had people working on the inside, and that security practices at the targeted bank were to blame for the breach. To date, Swift denies that the attacks are the result of vulnerabilities within its core system.
